K9 Bruce EOW: 3-17-2024

The Salt Lake City Utah Police Department is mourning the loss of one of their own, K9 Bruce. Bruce passed away very unexpectedly yesterday. The 5 year old bloodhound had an unknown medical condition, which was discovered after his death. He is already deeply missed.
As a puppy, Bruce joined SLCPD as a K9 at only eight weeks old. He was immediately assigned to his handler. The two were inseparable until yesterday. Bruce was an amazing K9. He was incredibly talented and loved to work. Bruce excelled in all of his trainings & certifications. He had his first find only a few days into his career after certification. In fact, Bruce had an amazing 31 finds during his career.
Bruce and his amazing nose were sought after far beyond the Salt Lake City limits. Bruce and his handler were often called upon by state and federal agencies to help locate violent offenders, missing persons, and fugitives. Bruce always got his man and he loved to work. But, Bruce was also a gentle giant who loved children and his community. He touched countless lives. And while Bruce may be gone from sight, he will continue to live on in the hearts and memories of everyone who was lucky enough to know him.
Please join us in keeping K9 Bruce's handler, family and @slcpd in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.
Rest Easy K9 Bruce 🇺🇸
We will never forget you, good boy.
